Aarit Kapil is one of India’s most promising young chess players and already holds the FIDE title of Candidate Master (CM). Born in 2015, he has gained international attention through strong performances against top-level opponents at a very young age.

He came into the spotlight in December 2024 at the KIIT International Open, where he defeated Grandmaster Raset Ziatdinov in a classical game. With that win, he became the youngest Indian and one of the youngest players worldwide to beat a Grandmaster in classical chess competition.

In 2025, Aarit added another notable result when he drew a game against World No.1 Magnus Carlsen in an online Titled Tuesday blitz event. He even reached a winning position before the game ended in a time scramble draw, further demonstrating his tactical ability and confidence against elite opposition.

He has also performed consistently in age-group events, including winning the National Under-11 Championship. Aarit trains under International Master Vishal Sareen and is known for his disciplined preparation and practical playing style.

With steady progress and high-quality results, Aarit Kapil is widely regarded as one of the key young names to watch in Indian chess.
