Anish Sarkar

Anish Sarkar, born on 26 January 2021 in Kolkata, India, has earned global recognition as the youngest FIDE-rated chess player. In November 2024, at just 3 years and 10 months old, he achieved an official rating of 1556, setting an unprecedented record 
 

Chess Career Highlights

Introduction to Chess & Coaching
Anish began his chess journey in January 2024 and was quickly placed in an elite training group under former Indian GM Dibyendu Barua. 

In September 2024, he earned his first rapid rating at the SXCCAA All Bengal Rapid Rating Open, where he was also featured in a simul game against GM Arjun Erigaisi 
 

Youngest Ever FIDE-Rated Player
In the West Bengal U-9 Championship, he scored 5.5/8, finishing 24th among 140 competitors and defeating two rated players in the final rounds. This performance led to his FIDE rating of 1556 
 

National Honor
In 2024, Anish was awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, becoming its youngest recipient.
