Sarbartho Mani, a rising chess star from West Bengal, has established himself as one of India’s most accomplished young talents. At just 10 years old, he has already built an extraordinary résumé across national and international competitions, combining sharp tactical play with remarkable composure and consistency.

His breakthrough came in 2023, when he scored a perfect 9/9 to win the National Under-7 Championship. He continued his rise on the international stage with a Gold Medal at the Asian Youth Blitz Championship 2024 (U-8 Open), showcasing his exceptional ability in fast-paced chess.

In 2025, Sarbartho added another major title by winning the FIDE World Cup Cadets (U-10 Open), overcoming a tense final and prevailing in the rapid tiebreaks. He also earned a place alongside some of the world's biggest chess names as part of Team Freedom at the FIDE World Rapid & Blitz Team Championships 2025. Competing as the youngest member of the team, he scored an impressive 11/12 in blitz and helped Team Freedom secure a bronze medal in rapid. His performance earned praise from captain Emil Sutovsky for his tactical sharpness and passion for the game.

His international success continued in 2026. At the FIDE World Cup Cadets 2026, Sarbartho won the Silver Medal in the Under-10 Open, scoring 8.5/11 and finishing second on tiebreaks.

But perhaps his biggest achievement yet came on home soil. At the 39th National Under-11 Chess Championship in Mangaluru, Sarbartho emerged as the National Under-11 Champion, adding another prestigious national title to his growing collection. He entered the event as the top seed with a FIDE rating of 2258 and went on to claim the championship against a strong field of India's leading young players.
